Austin was a gifted painter who graduated at the top of his art school class. He was a self-admitted perfectionist. Each year, his paintings became more and more intricate, and he spent countless hours on his latest artwork.
At last, his masterpiece was finished. He went home satisfied, and had a celebratory steak dinner with his wife, Amanda.
Austin returned around 2:00 p.m. the next afternoon to show Amanda his handiwork, as he never liked her to see his paintings until they were completely finished.
To his shock and dismay, the painting had vanished overnight!
If the painting wasn't stolen, what happened?

While attempting to cross the Atlantic Ocean on a solo voyage, Audrey’s small sailboat capsized and sank.
Fortunately, she escaped the wreckage and swam to a nearby island. She was very lucky to find land in the middle of the vast ocean, hundreds of miles from any major coastline.
The island was small, with only a sandy beach and a few palm trees. Audrey scoured the island but quickly realized that she couldn’t find any source of food or fresh water. She had lost all of her supplies when her ship went under.
Audrey was rescued the following year, in perfect health.
How is this possible?

Steve was an avid runner who jogged at least four miles every day, rain or shine. He went through several pairs of running shoes every single year.

Although Steve didn’t change his pace, he never passed the old woman on his run.
Why?
